Memorial Course Reserves: Home

blue arrowsWhat are Course Reserves?

Course Reserves are materials accessible through library services; such as books, DVDs, and so forth. These are course specific materials selected by faculty with the purpose of supporting student's access to resources. These materials are typically owned and provided by library services or the faculty member instructing the course.

Course reserves are held at the middle information desk within the Statton Learning Commons, located on the main floor. In order to allow several students to utilize these materials, there is a shorter circulation time of two hours. Course reserves are meant to stay within the Statton Learning Commons to ensure appropriate use of time and return to provide access to all students in the course.

The Memorial Course Reserves Collection

Course Reserves are materials set aside on a two-hour loan policy to support courses and ensure timely access due to their high circulation rates. Faculty may either make a purchase request or provide their own personal copy for circulation,

Though it is recommended that our general collection be utilized first before seeking to acquire new materials. We do not guarantee that we will have materials for every course; however, we will strive to accommodate interested faculty to the best of our abilities.

Course Reserves fulfill three purposes:

· Supports the educational needs of currently enrolled students

· Provides convenient, efficient, and timely access to high-demand materials

· Protects rare or high-use materials to ensure continued access

The funds provided for this collection come from Juniata employee donations in honor of deceased loved ones. Loved ones include current and retired employees and deceased family members of employees. Books purchased through these means are given a bookplate to note its connection to the Memorial Course Reserves.

If a resource is needed on a bigger scale, it is recommended that Barnes & Noble be consulted for book rentals.

In Fall 2024, we began adding photographs of loved ones to our slides. If you have requested a family member be added to the Memorial Course Reserves slideshow in the Statton Learning Commons prior to 2024, and would like to add a photo, please email library@juniata.edu.  Thank you.
